Alistair

Alistair Rainback was a very good friend of ours, and an absolute STAR (hence the star reference in the expedition name).
In November 2007 he was diagnosed with a grade 2 astrocytoma brain stem tumor. And tragically passed away in June 2008.
I have never known a more positive and hard working guy, his huge and loveable personality is very sorely missed by us and everyone who knew him.
We will, for sure, be needing plenty of the Ali “do it” spirit in Greenland, as well as some of his legendary skiing skills!
Although Ali was an enterprising and busy man, who was a director and co-founder of New Generation ski school in the French Alps, he ALWAYS took the time to remember and keep regularly in touch with his friends. And to honour that trait and the memory of a very special person, we are proud to undertake this expedition in his memory, and raise money for the HOSPICE OF ST. FRANCIS at Berkhamsted, Herts. This establishment helped make Ali’s final weeks as comfortable as possible, and we are hoping through www.justgiving.com/alirainback to raise enough money to fund a new bed at the hospice, thereby increasing their capacity for helping others.
